From the beginning, the aim of CrossFit has been to forge broad, general, and inclusive fitness. The founders of CrossFit sought to build a program which would best prepare trainees for any physical contingency – prepare them not only for the unknown, but for the unknowable. The CrossFit prescription is, “constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement.” Functional movements are safe and natural. These movements are essential to quality of life and prolonging independent living. With constantly varied movements, routine is the enemy. We want to challenge our bodies to move in unfamiliar ways with varied conditions. Many people think that high intensity is screaming, or grunting, while you work out. Intensity is synonymous with power. In basic language power/intensity is how much weight you can move over the longest distance in the shortest amount of time, while of course, maintaining proper form and technique.

CrossFit La Mesa can mold you into an athlete. Athletes can experience a protection from the ravages of aging and disease which non-athletes may never find. For example, 80 year old athletes are commonly stronger than non-athletes, in their prime, at 25 years old. Strength loss is a common factor of what can put people in nursing homes, because they can no longer take care of themselves. Athletes can have greater bone density, stronger immune systems, less coronary heart disease, reduced cancer risk, fewer strokes, and less depression than non-athletes. Whatever your fitness goals may be, we at CrossFit La Mesa can revamp your fitness regimen and give you the benefits of an athletic body and mind!
